THE HOUSE OF GOD IS A…
1 Timothy 3:8–15
"Likewise must the deacons be grave [worthy of respect], not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre; Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience. And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless. Even so must their wives [women] be grave [worthy of respect], not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things. Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.
For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree [standing], and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus. These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly: But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth."
1) WE CANNOT BE WORTHY OF RESPECT AND BE DOUBLE-TONGUED.
Psalm 12:1-3; James 3:5-12; Matthew 5:37
Q: How complicated is your speech?
2) WE CANNOT BE FAITHFUL AND BE DOUBLE-MINDED.
James 1:8; 4:7-12
Q: How complicated is your heart?
3) WE CANNOT PROMOTE UNITY AND BE DEVILISH SLANDERERS.
Exodus 23:1; Psalm 101:5; Proverbs 10:18; 6:16-19; 26:28; James 3:13-4:1; 1 Corinthians 1:9-13; Ephesians 4:17-5:9; Romans 16:17-20
Q: Regarding this point, how should you finish this statement? “I am a…”
SERMON IN A SENTENCE: As the house of God and place of truth in the world, we have no room for devilish slander and division.
